Kadyrov links Prigozhin's rebellion with latter's personal ambitions
The reason for the armed rebellion launched by Evgeny Prigozhin, the head of "Wagner" Private Military Company (PMC) was in his personal ambitions and the resentment due to his failed business deals, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 23, Prigozhin accused the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) of shelling the PMC's rear positions and promised to look into it. On June 24, armoured personnel carriers (APCs) appeared in Rostov-on-Don near the command building of the Southern Military District. Prigozhin was charged with incitement to armed rebellion. He announced that he had taken control of military facilities in Rostov-on-Don. Later, it became known that after Prigozhin's negotiations with President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, the PMC fighters left Rostov-on-Don for their field camps.
"It turned out that for the sake of personal ambitions, profit, and because of arrogance, people can give a damn about affection and love for their homeland," Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel.
He has added that he had urged Prigozhin to abandon his entrepreneurial ambitions and not mix them with matters of national importance. "A chain of unsuccessful business transactions caused a hidden and long-lasting resentment in Prigozhin, which reached is peak when authorities of Saint Petersburg refused to provide his daughter with the desired land plot. The arrogance of one person could lead to such dangerous consequences and draw quite a lot of people into the conflict," Kadyrov has stated.
Let us remind you that on May 4, Prigozhin, in his video appeal to Sergey Shoigu, the head of the Russian MoD, complained about a shortage of ammunition and demanded immediate supplies. Then, Kadyrov expressed his support for Prigozhin, calling him his "big brother."
