Investigators have no evidence, advocate of Ingush activist Nalgiev claims

In Pyatigorsk, a court continued to consider an appeal filed in the case of Ingush activists. Andrei Sabinin, an advocate of Ismail Nalgiev, emphasized that investigators had no evidence that the activists had organized riots during the rally in Magas. However, there is evidence proving that the defendants tried to stop the violence.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that since January 13, the trial has been underway in the Stavropol Territory on complaints filed against the verdicts to seven protest leaders in Magas. On May 12, the advocate stated that the investigators and the court did not prove that there were signs of extremist activity in the actions of the convicts. The defenders called on the court of appeal to pronounce a verdict of not guilty. On June 9, the defence complained about numerous violations in the verdict to the Ingush activists.

Andrei Sabinin spoke at the court hearing on June 29. He noted that there was no evidence of the organization of violence by the defendants, but there was evidence that they called for refraining from violence, the “For Human Rights” civil rights project reported on its Telegram channel.

According to the human rights defenders, the pushing back of the protesters by the police became a provocation. The protesters acted chaotically and have already been punished, the defender has added.
