Makhachkala resident fined for non-information

The court has fined a resident of Makhachkala, finding him guilty of non-informing law enforcement bodies that his acquaintance was participating in hostilities in Syria on the side of the "Islamic State" (IS)*.

According to investigators, M. Magomedov had maintained contact with a woman-native of Dagestan through social networks, knowing that she was participating in Syria as a member of an armed grouping that was part of the IS*, a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court.

"Since M. Magomedov has completely pleaded guilty, he was fined by 20,000 roubles," the RIA "Dagestan" quotes the press service of the Dagestani branch of the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service).

On June 15, it became known that the Khasavyurt City Court had found a resident of Khasavyurt guilty of failing to report that his acquaintance was agitating to join the unit that was taking part in the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine against the Russian Armed Forces.

*On December 29, 2014, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation recognized the organization "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL or IS) as a terrorist international organization and banned its activities in Russia.
