In Volgograd, court denies conscript a deferment due to health reasons
The Volgograd Regional Court denied Maxim Peshkov, a 27-year-old conscript from Kamyshin, the right to a deferment from military service, despite his serious illnesses.
According to Maxim Peshkov, he suffers from a number of chronic diseases since his childhood. Since the age of 20, a military registration and enlistment office have been trying to call him up for military service, but the man has been given a deferment during each conscription campaign.
On April 3, Maxim Peshkov again underwent a military medical commission, and this time he was declared qualified for the military service with category “B” (qualified with restrictions). “I informed the medical commission about my state of health, I even handed over appropriate documents to them, but to no avail ... It is obviously a subjective, biased approach,” complained Maxim Peshkov.
“The disease made it possible to give a conclusion that Maxim Peshkov qualifies for military service with minor restrictions. The draft commission has no reason not to trust the conclusion of the medical commission,” reported the military registration and enlistment office, noting that they decided to call Maxim Peshkov up for military service.
