Pensioner from Adygea fined for his comments on social networks

In Adygea, a court recognized comments posted on social networks by disabled person Vladimir Karmanov as discrediting the Russian Armed Forces and obliged him to pay a fine.

The Maikop City Court found unemployed local resident Vladimir Karmanov guilty of “discrediting” the Russian Armed Forces, the “Kavkaz.Realii”* reported.

Vladimir Karmanov admitted his guilt and declared repentance, noting that he posted on the “VKontakte” and “Facebook”* social networks his pacifist comments with a “negative assessment of the actions of the Russian army” because he was “trying to attract more audience.”

The court considered repentance a mitigating circumstance and sentenced Vladimir Karmanov to a fine of 30,000 roubles.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in the Maikop District, a court fined local resident Nadezhda Dedkova, finding her guilty of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

*Included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) into the register of foreign agents.
