Volgodonsk: pensioner fined for pacifist publications

A court in the Russian city of Volgodonsk has fined Aram Khachatryan, a pensioner, by 30,000 roubles, treating his pacifist posts in the social network as discrediting the Russian Army.

The Volgodonsk District Court of the Rostov Region has fined Aram Khachatryan, who posted pacifist videos and photos in the "VKontakte" social network, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has reported.

"Aram Khachatryan has denied his guilt of committing an administrative offense; he has explained that he is "against any war," and his actions were not aimed at discrediting the Russian Armed Forces; he simply expressed his attitude to the situation in his page," the court ruling says.
