Court approves Igor Paskar's sentence

The court has refused to satisfy the appeal of Igor Paskar's defence; he has been sentenced to a long term in the case of a terror act, and left the sentence unchanged, the SOTA Telegram channel has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 13, 2023, the human rights project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial" recognized Igor Paskar, convicted of setting fire to a rug near the FSB building in Krasnodar, as a political prisoner, demanding that his statements about torture be investigated.

On May 31, 2023, the Southern District Military Court sentenced Igor Paskar to 8.5 years of custody, with serving the first three years thereof in prison. Igor Pascar was accused of terrorism and vandalism motivated by political hatred.

Felix Vertegel, Paskar's advocate, has asked the court to reclassify the charge from terrorism to vandalism. He has emphasized that there was no desire in his client's actions to harm others and that Paskar was only trying to convey his viewpoint.

Let us remind you that Igor Paskar was detained in the summer of 2022 in Krasnodar. Investigators assert that he threw a Molotov cocktail into the building of the FSB headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory, as a result of which the rug near the entrance caught fire.

In August 2022, Pascar had a vandalism charge added for setting a Z banner on fire.
