Two contract soldiers from Southern Russia sentenced for refusing to go to frontline
The Southern District Military Court has approved colony terms for Pavel Shnekaev and Bakhtiyar Dosmetov for their refusal to go to the special military operation (SMO) zone in Ukraine.
The "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports that Pavel Shnekaev refused to follow his unit commander's order to depart to the SMO zone. The Novocherkassk Military Court has sentenced him to two years and three months in penal colony.
Shnekaev has claimed that his command failed to fulfil the terms of his contract: for example, he didn't fully receive the due payments; therefore, he refused to renew his contract. But the court rejected his explanations, since Shnekaev did not file an official complaint about incomplete payments.
The Maykop Garrison Court has sentenced Bakhtiyar Dosmetov to two years in penal colony for refusing to follow the commander's order to leave for the SMO zone. The appellate instance has stated that "establishing Dosmetov's suitability for service with minor restrictions" did not deprive the command of the right to send him to the SMO zone.
