Adding journalist Yusupov* to foreign agents surprises Telegram users
The Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has included Idris Yusupov*, a Dagestani journalist, into the register of foreign agents under dubious pretext; this decision is a persecution manifestation of dissidents, Telegram users have indicated. Yusupov has been included into the register of foreign agents for his regular solo pickets held in Makhachkala, Shamil Khadulaev, an activist, has suggested.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 24, the MOJ included Idris Yusupov into the register of foreign agents. According to the Ministry, he "used to receive support from foreign sources."
Idris is known for his regular solo pickets in defence of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, one of the editors of the "Chernovik" outlet; of Khadji-Murad Donogo, a scientist; of political prisoners; and since November 6 – in support of the people of Palestine.
The inclusion of Yusupov into the register of foreign agents has drawn attention of Shamil Khadulaev, the chairman of the coordination council of Dagestani NGOs, who wrote about it in his Telegram channel.
"Actually, those who are sponsored by foreign unfriendly states are registered as foreign agents," the user Tina has expressed her opinion.
"Only someone who receives money from another state can be called a foreign agent. You can't just want to and call his/her," the user Doc believes. "Soon the whole country will be foreign agents, except for Peskov and Putin," the user St1alvi has expressed his dissatisfaction.
"Soon all those who disagree will be called foreign agents," the user Akhmad has suggested. "Do you want to become a foreign agent? Just tell the truth," the user Djabrail Djabrailov has commented on the news about Yusupov*.
