Krasnodar priest fined for discrediting Russian Army

Jonah (Ilya Sigida), a Hieromonk of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), earlier arrested for two days on charges of resisting law enforcers during a search in his church, was fined by 30,000 roubles. The court has treated his article as discrediting the Russian Army.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 6, Ilya Sigida (Jonah), an assistant to Victor Pivovarov, the ROC's Archbishop Slavic and South-Russian, informed that searches had been conducted in the church, and the Archbishop was detained. Sigida himself was arrested for two days for disobedience to law enforcers' demands.

The city court of Slavyansk-on-Kuban has fined Hieromonk Jonah (Ilya Sigida) for his published article in which he criticized the actions of the ROC in connection with the special military operation (SMO) conducted in Ukraine, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has reported.

The ROC is an association of non-canonical Orthodoxy in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and other countries, mainly of the former USSR.
