Two Rostov-on-Don natives freed from “Hamas” captivity

Irina Tatti, a native of Rostov-on-Don, and her daughter Elena Trufanova, who were taken hostage during the “Hamas” attack on Israel in October, have been released from captivity. A grandson of Irina Tatti still stays hostage together with his bride.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that former doctor Irina Tatti was captured by “Hamas” militants together with her family at the beginning of the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Irina Tatti’s daughter Elena Trufanova was shown on October 30 in a video filmed by militants.

Irina Tatti is 73 years old, and about five years ago she moved to live with her daughter in Israel. They lived in the city of Beersheba near the Gaza Strip. During the “Hamas” attack, the elderly Rostov-on-Don native, her daughter, and grandson were taken hostage. Vitaly Trufanov, a husband of Elena Trufanova, a daughter of Irina Tatti, was killed during a militant attack.

On November 29, Irina Tatti, 73, and her daughter Elena Trufanova, 50, were released together with a group of other Israeli hostages. Employees of the Red Cross mission took them to Egypt and then to the south of Israel, the “Ynetnews” agency reports.

Irina Tatti, like her daughter, are citizens of Russia, and therefore the “Hamas” presented their release as a “tribute to Vladimir Putin,” the “Haaretz” reports.

Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov emphasizes that both natives of Rostov-on-Don have been rescued from captivity “through truly enormous efforts of Russian diplomats and representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD).”
