Kadyrov: Chechnya beats mobilization’s target by 15 times
Chechnya has fulfilled the partial mobilization plan by 1500%, and military personnel from the republic are serving in regiments and battalions of the Russian Ministry of Defence and the “Rosgvardiya” (National Guard of Russia). This has been announced by Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of Chechnya.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 22, 2022, after the announcement of the partial mobilization, Ramzan Kadyrov declared that Chechnya would not participate in it, since it had already beat the target by 254%. On October 30, the leader of Chechnya stated that since the beginning of the special military operation, 32,000 fighters have been sent to the ranks of the “Akhmat” special forces.
After the start of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, the authorities of Chechnya announced the creation of a number of new military units. So, on June 26, Ramzan Kadyrov announced that four battalions of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) would be formed in Chechnya, including “Sever-Akhmat” (North-Akhmat), “Yug-Akhmat” (South-Akhmat), “Zapad-Akhmat” (West-Akhmat), and “Vostok-Akhmat” (East-Akhmat), which would include “exclusively Chechen guys.”
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Ramzan Kadyrov repeatedly called on residents of the republic to go to participate in the special military operation in Ukraine, and on December 19, 2022, the Minister of Information of Chechnya posted a video with female employees of the republic’s law enforcement bodies. The video said that the women of Chechnya were ready to support men in defending the interests of their homeland.
In December 2022, Ramzan Kadyrov stated that all participants of the special military operation in Ukraine from Chechnya went to it by their own will. However, human rights defenders and local residents reported cases of coercion to participate in the SMO. So, the number of volunteers sent to Ukraine on July 25 included Akhmed Zakaev’s nephew Khusein Zakaev, who was detained by Chechen law enforcers in May.
