Chechen authorities announce launching date of mass production of "Jihad" vehicles
The start of mass production of "Jihad" vehicles for the needs of the special military operation (SMO) is planned in 2024 at the "Chechenavto", Chechen authorities have reported.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 20, 2023, the Chechen Government reported that Chechen authorities intended to start manufacturing "Jihad" vehicles for military purposes on the "Chechenavto" base. This established name is used to name the cars used by suicide bombers.
"First samples of military vehicles will be presented to the head of Chechnya before the end of December. Next year, we hope to launch mass production for the needs of the SMO," Adam Khakimov, the Chechen Minister for Industry and Energy, is quoted by the TASS as saying.
"I always thought that 'Jihad' vehicles are motor cars stuffed with explosives to the brim and driven by stoned suicide bombers," the commentator Astra wild2 has noted.
Let us recall that "Jihad" vehicles or "Jihad" mobiles are usually called suicide vehicles used for self-detonation by activating a powerful explosive device. Such devices were used, in particular, during the second Chechen campaign. Thus, on June 6, 2000, the first suicide bombing was committed by Khava Baraeva, who broke through to the commandant's office building in Alkhan Yurt in Chechnya in a truck stuffed with TNT (trotyl). The truck was shelled by securities, resulting in an explosion. Then two OMON (riot police) fighters perished along with Baraeva.
