Relatives of suspect in killing Mullah offer reconciliation to Gakaevs
Relatives of the man accused of murdering the Mullah, Abdurakhim Gakaev, have stated that they were disgraced by their relative's actions and expressed a desire to reconcile with Mullah's relatives. It follows from the video record of the gathering that took place in the village of Komsomolskoye.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Abdurakhim Gakaev, a Mullah from the village of Voskresenovskoye, Shelkovskoi District of Chechnya, was killed in front of his child. On January 15, a 30-year-old murder suspect was detained. Earlier, he recorded and placed a video message in which he declared his fight against sorcerers, and asked to bring this message to Ramzan Kadyrov. The suspect's relatives publicly asked for forgiveness from those close to the Mullah.
"A video has spread in social networks where a young man kills Gakaev and comments that 'this is a gift to you from our brother.' The killer's relatives have gathered here ... They swear in the name of Allah that the killer acted without their knowledge and consent. Before this, between them and the Gakaevs there have never been any grounds for blood feud," the man says in a video posted in the Telegram channel "ChP Grozny".
He has added that the killer's words about a "gift from his brother" had no grounds, since the killer "has neither brother nor father." "His relatives who have gathered here say that they are disgraced by his actions ... They admit that their man committed a grave crime," the man has explained.
Earlier, experts on the Caucasus and human rights defenders noted that the Gakaev's alleged killer looked like an unhealthy person who mistook a far-fetched motive for a guide to action. In their opinion, the crime has to do with the atmosphere of cruelty in the republic.
