Pensioner from Rostov Region sentenced to colony for fakes about Russian Army

A court has sentenced the 72-year-old Evgenia Maiboroda to 5.5 years in penal colony, finding her reposts placed in a social network as fakes about the Russian Army and calls for extremism.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October 2023 it became known that the Shakhty City Court received Evgenia Maiboroda's case about the spread of fakes about the Russian Army. Earlier, the court also found her guilty of distributing extremist materials.

The pensioner was found guilty of distributing "fakes" about the Russian Army motivated by political hatred and calls for extremist activities.

The reason for the criminal case against Evgenia was in her repost of information about the death toll of Russian militaries and an emotional video clip. Ms Maiboroda has admitted her guilt (except for the motive of political hatred) and explained her reaction by the fact that her brother in the city of Dnieper found himself under the rubble of a building collapsed due to shelling, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* has reported.
