Volzhsky resident fined for discrediting Russian Army

In the Volgograd Region, a court sentenced Dmitry Vanifatiev to a fine, recognizing his pacifist comment posted on a social network as discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

The Volzhsky City Court reports on its official website that Dmitry Vanifatiev posted a comment “available for viewing by an indefinite circle of people and thereby committed public actions aimed at discrediting” the Russian Army.

“The man left his comment being in an inadequate state, he was in a state of alcoholic intoxication, in a depressed and destructive state ... He thought that when the political regime changed, good changes would occur in the state,” the text of the document says.

The court found the defendant guilty and imposed a fine on him.
