Resident of Rostov Region fined for repost
Igor Listopadov, a resident of the city of Semikarakorsk, Rostov Region, has been fined under an article about discrediting the Russian Army in a social network. The trial took place without his participation.
The Semikarakorsk District Court of the Rostov Region has ruled to fine Listopadov by 40,000 roubles. The proceedings dealt with his repost in the "Odnoklassniki" social network of a post about the death of Lieutenant General Oleg Tsokov, a deputy commander of the Southern Military District, that occurred in Berdyansk.
The post was found by operative agents of the Rostov branch of the FSB this January. They established that "posts discrediting the Russian Armed Forces were placed in a personal page." Listopadov left Russia in September 2022 and is now abroad.
Lieutenant General Oleg Tsokov was seriously wounded by a Ukrainian missile attack on July 11, 2022, and died. Andrei Gurulyov, a Russian State Duma MP, stated that a year earlier Tsokov had already been "extremely seriously wounded." "They barely pulled him out, and, in fact, for health reasons he could not go to the frontline," the RBC has quoted Mr Gurulyov as saying.
