In Rostov Region, mobilized man fined for trying to give bribe not to go to SMO
The Novocherkassk garrison military court found Maxim Shirin, who was mobilized in October 2022, guilty of giving a bribe. The court recognized that the man tried to avoid being sent to a combat zone through bribery and to gain protection at service.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in February, in the Rostov Region, a court recognized Ivan Shvechikov, another mobilized man, guilty of bribing a commander to avoid being sent to the special military operation zone after being wounded. The man was fined 750,000 roubles.
The court found it proven that Maxim Shirin gave a bribe to a higher-ranking official in the amount of 5000 roubles in order to obtain his protection, as well as to avoid being sent to the special military operation (SMO) zone and “problems in his service,” the court’s official website reports.
In addition to the full admission of guilt, the court recognized the Maxim Shirin’s assistance to investigators and the fact that he committed the crime “due to official dependence” as mitigating circumstances. Maxim Shirin was fined 15,000 roubles.
