Social media users surprised by skinhead’s apology for loving a Chechen girl

A young man, who introduced himself in a video circulated on social media as a skinhead who fell in love with a Chechen girl, recorded a new video in which he apologized to the Chechen people. The apologies caused confusion among many social media users.

The video “Skinhead was found and brought to justice by the Chechens”, posted on Instagram*, was noticed by “Caucasian Knot” reader 7 imelda_parker. “Some Chechens found and forced an apology on video camera from a skinhead who claimed that he was having an affair with a Chechen girl,” the “Caucasian Knot” reader wrote in his comment.

It should be noted that the video with the skinhead voicing his apologies appeared against the backdrop of the story of Liya Zaurbekova, a 19-year-old native of Chechnya, that provoked a public outcry. Relatives of Liya Zaurbekova, who ran away from her family because of permanent pressure, put her on the wanted list, and found her in Moscow. Liya Zaurbekova left the police department with her lawyer and then managed to leave Russia. The case has attracted the attention of a very large number of concerned people, human rights defenders note.

“I’m a Slavic skinhead. I fell in love with a Chechen girl. She shares my feelings. What should we do?” says in the video the young man with a shaved head.

In the second part of the video, the young man says: “I recently recorded a rash video that could offend the Chechen people ... I admit my mistake ... If my video offended anyone, I apologize for that.”

“Can someone explain why he is apologizing? Is it forbidden in Chechnya to openly say that you love a person?” user Vladimir Rasskazov expressed his surprise in the comment.

It should be noted that some users positioning themselves as Chechens pointed out the need to “preserve the purity of the nation.”
