Public prosecutor challenges acquittal of Jehovah’s Witness* Guschin

In a case against Kirill Guschin, a Jehovah’s Witness* from Kabardino-Balkaria, a public prosecutor filed an appeal against the acquittal of the believer. The prosecutor requests a new trial with a different composition of judges.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on May 2, it became known that a court in Kabardino-Balkaria acquitted Jehovah’s Witness* Kirill Guschin, finding him not guilty of extremism.

The public prosecutor requested the court to return the case for a new trial with a different composition of judges, the “OVD Info”* human rights project reported on its Telegram channel.

Let us remind you that on March 25, at a hearing of the Maisky District Court, the public prosecutor requested to sentence Kirill Guschin to seven years of imprisonment. The defendant is accused of creating an extremist organization and involving other people in its activities. The believer claimed the books that was recognized as prohibited had been planted on him by law enforcers.

*396 Russian organizations of Jehovah’s Witnesses are recognized as extremist, and their activities in Russia are banned by court’s decision.
