In March 2024, six casualties were recorded in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Six suspected militants were shot dead in Ingushetia. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", based on its own materials and information from open sources.
On March 2, a counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in central Karabulak. The Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported that at an attempt to detain the above militants, they opened fire on law enforcers; a shootout broke out, and residents of nearby houses were evacuated.
As a result, six people were blocked by special agents and shot dead in Karabulak, the NAC reported, adding that three casualties had been earlier on the wanted list.
In other regions of Northern Caucasus, namely, in Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia-Alania, Stavropol Territory and Chechnya, no armed incidents or casualties of the armed conflict were recorded in this March.
On March 31, the CTO regime was introduced in the Leninsky and Sovietsky Districts of the city of Makhachkala, and in the town of Kaspiysk, bordering on Makhachkala. According to law enforcers, information was received about the whereabouts of armed people involved in terrorism, and special agents of the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service) blocked them at night in apartments in residential areas of Makhachkala and Kaspiysk. It was decided to evacuate residents of nearby houses. The CTO regime was lifted on the same day.
The statistics presented here cannot give the number of victims with 100% accuracy. Not all data makes it into news reports. It is not always possible to verify how true the statements of law enforcement bodies are; and the new data about the events of the reporting period sometimes become known after the statistics has been already published by the "Caucasian Knot".
Earlier, in February 2024, four victims were recorded. Three suspected militants were killed and a policeman was wounded in Chechnya.
