Kadyrov Fund and mother of Chechen leader get under EU sanctions

The European Union (EU) has included Aimani Kadyrova, the mother of the head of Chechnya, and the Kadyrov Fund into the sanctions list. Ramzan Kadyrov said that the sanctions only confirm his mother's merits.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on August 24, 2023, the US Treasury Department introduced sanctions against 11 Russian citizens, including Aimani Kadyrova. Ramzan Kadyrov then stated that he would not forgive the USA for the sanctions against his mother and demanded that they be lifted, while treating the sanctions as "painless."

Aimani Kadyrova has been included into the sanctions list, in particular, for helping the families of the Chechen fighters, who are taking part in the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, as well as providing food and technical equipment to Russian militaries and re-educating "Ukrainian children," says the website of the EU Council.

In his Telegram channel, Ramzan Kadyrov has called the inclusion of his mother and the Fund into the sanctions list a "generous gift." He has stated that the announced sanctions are unable to "cause any harm to me and my family."

In the Russian judicial practice, it is customary to decrease the compensation amount; and the resonance from Tskaev's case has partially contributed to a decrease in the number of tortures in the republic, Vladimir Tskaev's widow and his advocate have stressed.
