Woman from Volgograd Region receives suspended sentence for spoiling ballots with brilliant green
The Volzhsky City Court has sentenced Ainura Amanbaeva, a local resident, who had poured brilliant green into a ballot box during the Russian presidential election, to 1.5 years of conditional imprisonment.
The court found Ainura Amanbaeva guilty of obstructing the exercise of people's electoral rights or the work of election commissions, the "Volgograd Online" outlet has reported with reference to Darya Buyanova, senior assistant to the head of the Volgograd regional branch of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for the for interaction with media.
During the trial, Amanbaeva admitted her guilt. She told the court that she had poured the green stuff onto ballot papers under the influence of “mental duress.” The judge took into account this Amanbaeva's testimony, says the website of the Volzhsky City Court.
Let us remind you that Amanbaeva poured the brilliant green into the ballot box on March 15 at the polling station. She stated that telephone scammers had offered her a reward of 30,000 roubles for this.
