Acquittal of KBR advocate Diana Tsipinova cancelled

The Cassation Court in Pyatigorsk has overturned the acquittal of Diana Tsipinova, an advocate from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) within the case of attacking a law enforcer. This was reported by the Russian Federal Bar Association in its Telegram channel.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 7, 2023, the Urvan District Court found no corpus delicti in the actions of Diana Tsipinova, accused of attacking a law enforcer, and acquitted her. On November 29, 2023, the KBR's Supreme Court (SC) upheld the verdict. The acquittal must be overturned, the Prosecutor's Office insists.

Let us remind you that a criminal case was opened against Diana Tsipinova after an incident involving Ratmir Zhilokov, an advocate, occurred in Nartkala in May 2020. According to investigators, Zhilokov tried to prevent policemen from entering the establishment where gambling activities were allegedly taking place. Three advocates, including Diana Tsipinova, arrived to see the detainee, but they were not allowed to see Zhilokov. Law enforcers didn't like that the advocates filming them, and they "overpowered the advocates and threw them out of the building."

In the last 10 years, cases of persecuting advocates for their professional activities have become more frequent, Tsipinova's colleagues have stated.
