In May 2024, one person perished in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

In May 2024, one casualty was recorded in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. In Karachay-Cherkessia, one suspected militant was killed; no information was received about any wounded persons. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

On May 17, in the village of Adil-Khalk, Nogai District of Karachay-Cherkessia, a man was shot dead in a shootout with law enforcers; the FSB treated the man as a member of an international terrorist organization, who had planned attacks on law enforcers.

The shootout in the Nogai District was preceded by attacks on policemen in Karachaevsk on April 22, and in the dwelling settlement of Mara-Ayagy on April 29, 2024.

In other regions of Northern Caucasus, which include Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia-Alania, Stavropol Territory and Chechnya, no armed incidents or conflict victims were recorded in May 2024.

The above statistics cannot present the number of victims with 100-percent accuracy. Not all the data get into news tapes. It is not always possible to verify the accuracy of the statements made by law enforcement bodies; and new data on the events of the reporting period sometimes become known after the publication of statistics by the "Caucasian Knot".

Earlier, in April 2024, 16 victims were recorded. In Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia, 11 people were killed and five other were wounded.
