Video showing aggression against Makhachkala woman in niqab outrages residents of Dagestan
In Dagestan, social network users are discussing the video showing an attack of an aggressive passerby on a woman wearing a niqab in Makhachkala. The man motivated his attempts to take the niqab off her by the Muftiate's ban on this type of religious clothing.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the militants' attacks committed in Dagestan, the issue of banning the wearing of religious clothing was raised in the republics of Northern Caucasus. On July 3, the Dagestani Muftiate introduced a temporary ban on wearing niqabs.
The above video filmed, according to users, in Makhachkala was posted by the Telegram channel "ChP Kavkaz". The video shows a man approaching a woman in a niqab in the street and yelling at her. "Why are you wearing this?" he asks, trying to rip the niqab off her.
One of the passers-by, a girl in secular clothes, approaches the man, standing up for the Muslim woman, but he continues yelling at her, stating that he "has the right".
Commentators in the messenger were outraged by the man's actions, who attacked a lonely girl in a niqab. Many regretted that there were no men nearby who could calm the aggressor. Several users suggested that the video was "a provocation".
"Now, someone is looking for this man; and someone is writing that he has already been beaten by unknown people. Lynching is not the best solution and can have more serious consequences," the author of the Telegram channel "Ask Rasul" has written.
