Court treats Semyon Slepakov*'s songs as reason for adding him to register of foreign agents

The anti-Russian songs and poems that Semyon Slepakov*, a native of the Stavropol Territory, used to post in social networks were the reason for his inclusion into the register of foreign agents.

On July 18, 2024, the cassation court in Moscow refused to satisfy the complaint lodged by the comedian and singer Semyon Slepakov*, who demanded that his status as a foreign agent be cancelled.

As explained by the RIA "Novosti", the court has stated that the point was in at least two songs, in one of which Slepakov* "ridicules dying Russian soldiers participating in military operations."

In another song, he "ridicules the president of the Russian Federation, who intends to use weapons when the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Russia are threatened," the TASS reports.

Besides, as stated in the documents, "an analysis of the materials spread by Slepakov* allows to conclude that he is engaged in political activities."

Let us remind you that the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) added Slepakov* to the list of foreign agents this April, explaining this by the fact that the performer had received support from foreign sources, condemned the actions of Russian authorities in Ukraine, formed a negative attitude towards military service and spoke negatively about Russian citizens. Now, he lives outside of Russia.

*Included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) into the register of foreign agents.
