Fear of execution forces Dagestani resident to apologize to Kadyrov after road accident

In the conflict of a Dagestani resident with and an elderly Chechen after a road accident, both parties are to blame, as they wouldn't settle the problem peacefully and started a brawl, analysts believe, adding that the Dagestani resident by apologizing to Kadyrov decided to protect himself and end the conflict in this way.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 14, a resident of Dagestan recorded a video with an apology to Ramzan Kadyrov. During the accident, he hit his elderly opponent from Chechnya, and after a while, the Dagestani was beaten up by the old man's relatives.

Svetlana Gannushkina*, the head of the "Civic Assistance" Committee*, believes the incident was a domestic conflict and advises not to give it any other meaning.

"Even if the elderly Chechen provoked the young man, the latter should never have raised his hand to him. At the same time, it is completely unacceptable to insult one's mother. Especially for a Caucasian; this is a very serious insult," she has said, adding that it is completely unclear why the Dagestani had apologized to Kadyrov.

A human rights defender from the "Memorial" Centre for Human Rights Defence* is sure that the Mercedes driver was forced to apologize.

Milrad Fatulaev, a Dagestani journalist, also believes that the incident was a domestic conflict. According to his story, the Mercedes driver decided to protect himself from possible negative consequences.
