Rauf Arashukov apologizes to Ramzan Kadyrov

An Internet page of Rauf Arashukov, a former senator from Karachay-Cherkessia, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, has posted an apology to Ramzan Kadyrov and a request for help addressed to him.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on December 27, 2022, the Moscow City Court sentenced Rauf Arashukov and his father Raul Arashukov to life imprisonment.

Rauf Arashukov was on friendly terms with Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and through him with TV presenter Tina Kandelaki. She helped Rauf Arashukov with social networks and media.

On his page on Instagram*, Rauf Arashukov has asked the leader of Chechnya for “forgiveness for all the mistakes made.” The man has claimed that he “never intentionally did anything wrong,” especially something that could “anger or offend” Ramzan Kadyrov.

Rauf Arashukov has got a reputation for being an intemperate person, notes an activist from Cherkessk. “Rauf Arashukov was proud of his friendship with Ramzan Kadyrov and copied his manner of speaking ... And suddenly he was ‘thrown away’,” the activist explained.

The Rauf Arashukov’s problems began because of a conflict around the North-Caucasian department of the “Rosavtodor” Company, the RBC reports with reference to a former Kremlin official.

Ruslan Lechkhadjiev, the head of the “Rosavtodor” Company’s department, is a relative of Ramzan Kadyrov. Thanks to his connections with the leader of Chechnya, Rauf Arashukov arranged an appointment of his relative Muradin Kardanov as a deputy of Ruslan Lechkhadjiev. Soon after Rauf Arashukov became a senator, he and his relative tried to remove Ruslan Lechkhadjiev from his position by initiating an investigation at the “Rosavtodor” Company’s department. That led to a breakdown in the relations between Ramzan Kadyrov and Rauf Arashukov. “Ramzan does not forgive such things,” the former official was quoted as saying.

Caucasian experts have stated that the collapse of the Arashukov family clan has been initiated by the people significantly higher in the hierarchy than Ramzan Kadyrov. The Arashukov family clan emerged as part of a special services project, and its collapse was caused by criminal prosecution, the experts believe.
