Drone attack becomes first in Dagestan since beginning of SMO
An attack with a drone shot down in Kaspiysk has become the first incident in Dagestan since the beginning of the special military operation (SMO). The incident occurred eight days after Chechnya was attacked by a drone for the first time during the hostilities in Ukraine.
Residents of Kaspiysk reported that a drone exploded over the city this morning. Dagestani leader Sergey Melikov confirmed that air defence forces destroyed the drone over the city.
According to the data of the “Caucasian Knot”, based on its own information and information from open sources, the drone attack on Kaspiysk has become the first in Dagestan since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine.
At the same time, a ban on the use of drones has been in effect in the republic since September 2023.
Eight days ago, Chechnya was attacked by a drone for the first time since the beginning of the special military operation. On October 29, a building on the territory of the Russian Special Forces University in Gudermes caught fire as a result of the drone attack.
Ramzan Kadyrov announced that there were no casualties. However, later, the leader of Chechnya stated that there were casualties among Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs). According to the Ramzan Kadyrov’s report, Ukrainian prisoners of war are kept “at every strategic facility in the republic.”
These statement voiced by Ramzan Kadyrov can be regarded as evidence of the use of prisoners of war as “human shields” and hostages, experts note.
Since the beginning of the special military operation, the territories of the Rostov Region, the Krasnodar Territory, and other regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) and the Southern Federal District (SFD) have been regularly attacked by drones.
