Blogger Kharchenko* detained under new criminal case
A court in Gelendjik has released Vadim Kharchenko*, accused under several criminal articles, from custody, after which he was detained on suspicion of slander.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 1, 2023, it became known that the blogger Vadim Kharchenko* became a suspect in a criminal case. The court placed him under arrest.
Vadim Kharchenko* is accused of nine episodes and under the four following articles: repeated discrediting of the Russian Army, slander, public actions aimed at insulting believers' religious feelings and calls for extremism committed on the Internet. The blogger himself treats his criminal prosecution as revenge for his publicity and criticism of corrupt officials.
His defence has found out that Kharchenko* was detained within a new criminal case of slander (provides for up to five years of freedom deprivation), which was initiated by an advocate.
"This is already the 10th case against Vadim Kharchenko*," one of his advocates has explained.
Vadim has stated in court that he was pressured at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) by the investigator and the court-appointed advocate.
