Alexei Abramov sent to SMO with traumas declared missing

The wife of mobilized Krasnodar resident Alexei Abramov was informed that her husband, whose demobilization from the special military operation (SMO) zone she was seeking, has been considered missing since January 24.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 21, Kseniya Abramova said that her numerous requests to demobilize her husband remain unanswered; he has not been in touch for a month. In July 2024, he was in the SMO zone in Ukraine as part of an assault squad, although he can only move on crutches due to his spinal traumas.

"My friends, whom I asked to search for my husband, told me to get ready for the worst. They said that until the bodies were evacuated and identified, nothing is certain, but there is no point in searching for in hospitals," Kseniya Abramova has emphasized.

Sergey Krivenko*, the director of the human rights group "Citizen. Army. Law"*, has stated that declaring a person as missing does not necessarily mean that he has perished. "He could be a prisoner of war (POW), since Ukrainians are sometimes slow in identifying such persons," he has noted, adding that according to estimates for 2023, there were 10,000-15,000 such missing people. "In addition to POWs, these are also those whose bodies could not be recovered," he has concluded.

  • Pre-planned nature is distinctive feature of attack on journalist Khoroshilov

The actions of the man who attacked Igor Khoroshilov, a Rostov journalist, were prepared in advance, which excludes any spontaneous conflict. At the same time, the absence of direct proofs of links of the attack with Igor’s professional activities will allow law enforcers to treat the incident as a domestic conflict, lawyers have pointed out.
