Ingush activist Bagaudin Khautiev released

Ingush activist Bagaudin Khautiev has served his full sentence in a case on an extremist community and has been released from a penal colony in the Stavropol Territory.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in February 2024, when Ismail Nalgiev, Bagaudin Khautiev, and Barakh Chemurziev had already served most of their eight-year sentences, the convicts filed motions to court with requests to replace the remainder of their sentences with a non-custodial sentence. In May 2024, the court refused to grant the motions. The Stavropol Territorial Court upheld the first instance court’s decision.

Seven Ingush activists were accused of creating an extremist community and participating in it. In December 2021, a court sentenced Akhmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov, and Malsag Uzhakhov to nine years, Ismail Nalgiev, Bagaudin Khautiev, and Barakh Chemurziev – to nine years, and Zarifa Sautieva – to seven and a half years of imprisonment.

Bagaudin Khautiev, like other convicted activists, has been prohibited from being engaged in public activities and holding certain positions for three years, the “Fortanga” portal reports.
