Native of Dagestan complains about torture at detention facility
Timurkhan Ibragimov, a convicted native of Dagestan, has complained that he was tortured in order to obtain the necessary testimonies in a criminal case from him.
Gadzhikhan Ibragimov, a Timurkhan’s brother, said that Timurkhan was convicted in June 2022 on murder charges and sentenced to 16 years in colony with a freedom restriction for the subsequent two years.
Timurkhan served his sentence in a colony in the Stavropol Territory, but he is also a witness in a case that is considered at the Rostov Regional Court; therefore, so he was transferred to a SIZO (pre-trial prison) located in that region.
"My brother was transferred to the SIZO, where he was repeatedly tortured with electric shocks and beaten up. According to preliminary information, the reason for the beatings and torture was the investigator's demand to give testimony that was against reality. Other detainees reported this and similar cases at this SIZO," Gadzhikhan Ibragimov has stated.
Besides, according to his story, Timurkhan was also charged under the article "Organization of a terrorist community and participation in it."
"Allegedly he had taken part in the ‘prison jamaat’ in the colony in Novo-Tyube (a dwelling settlement in the Kumtorkalinsky District of Dagestan, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), when he served his sentence there in 2013-14. But Timurkhan refused to admit his guilt," Gadzhikhan has added.
