Oppositionist Yefimov arrested in Volzhsky for 14 days
In the city of Volzhsky, a court sentenced Alexander Yefimov, a member of the “Yabloko” Party, to administrative arrest for displaying a portrait of Alexei Navalny.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on February 16, it became known about the detention of Alexander Yefimov. According to the source’s report, Alexander Yefimov has been accused of “demonstrating extremist symbols,” while the politician did not intend to participate in the action in memory of Alexei Navalny in Volgograd.
On February 16, on the first anniversary of the Alexei Navalny’s death, residents of Russian cities, as well as Yerevan and Tbilisi, honoured his memory.
“In court, the lawyer and Alexander Yefimov spoke about the absurdity of the charges. Indeed, a portrait of Alexei Navalny cannot be an extremist symbol. By the way, his portraits are being shown everywhere in the federal media ... But the judge made such a strange conclusion. Alexander Yefimov has been placed under arrest for 14 days,” the source reported.
Lawyer Sergey Ivaschenko considered the charges brought against Alexander Yefimov absurd.
