Activist Lyudmila Borzilo faces pressure from law enforcers

Lyudmila Borzilo, an activist from the Rostov Region, was taken to a hospital by order of an investigator. In the hospital, the activist was subjected to pressure with an attempt to convince her to agree to undergo tests for a psychiatric examination.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Lyudmila Borzilo, a member of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) from the Rostov Region, complained that the law enforcement bodies had groundlessly instituted a criminal case against her and demanded from her to undergo a psychiatric examination. The activist also claimed that officials were trying to place her children in an orphanage for her active civic position. On March 3, a court placed Lyudmila Borzilo under house arrest.

Lyudmila Borzilo is accused of disclosing the secret of adoption.

Tatiana Borzilo, a 20-year-old daughter of Lyudmila Borzilo, reported that her mother was requested to sign a “consent to medical intervention,” but the activist refused to sign the document without her lawyer. As a result, two hours later, an officer of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) brought her mother home, “exhausted and upset.”

In Russia, medical tests can be taken exclusively with a patient’s will, emphasizes Sergey Gromov, a lawyer of the mother of many children.

  • Pre-planned nature is distinctive feature of attack on journalist Khoroshilov

The actions of the man who attacked Igor Khoroshilov, a Rostov journalist, were prepared in advance, which excludes any spontaneous conflict. At the same time, the absence of direct proofs of links of the attack with Igor’s professional activities will allow law enforcers to treat the incident as a domestic conflict, lawyers have pointed out.
