Sochi resident sentenced to imprisonment in case on high treason
A resident of Sochi, who worked as a railway security guard, was found guilty of “real assistance to Ukraine” because of his communication with a Ukrainian acquaintance.
The criminal case against the resident of Sochi accused of high treason was considered by the Krasnodar Territorial Court.
The defendant worked as a shooter in a specialized group of a railway security post. According to the public prosecutor’s version, in 2023, the defendant sent his acquaintance, a Ukrainian police officer, photos and videos of the locations of the Russian air defence systems.
The court has concluded that “the information transmitted constitutes real assistance to Ukraine,” the United Press Service for the Courts of the Krasnodar Territory reports in its statement.
The defendant gave a detailed confession and actively cooperated with investigators. The court considered the above fact a mitigating circumstance and sentenced the man to 12 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony with one year of restricted freedom. This is the minimum sentence provided for by the article on high treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
