Dagestani authorities report power supply restoration in mountain villages
Power supply to the Akhtynski District, interrupted after bad weather, has been fully restored, and the high alert mode has been cancelled.
Local residents and power engineers from the Stavropol Territory, Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia and North Ossetia are involved in restoring power grids, the Dagestani Ministry of Energy has informed. The power outage area also includes five villages in the Khnovskaya Valley in the Akhtynski District, where about 600 people live.
The permanent power supply to the mountain villages of Khnov, Gdym and Fiy has been fully restored; the special operating and high alert modes at the “Dagenergo” Company have been cancelled, the above Dagestani Ministry reported in the evening on April 30.
The Ministry has explained that power engineers had completely replaced the damaged power line from the “Akhty” substation and put it into operation according to the normal scheme.
Until the work completion, three villages in the Akhtynski District, where the most severe power grid accident had occurred, were supplied under a temporary scheme from five backup power sources, says a post in the official Telegram channel of the Ministry.
On April 15-17, repairs after the bad weather took a long time, since some power facilities were blocked after mudflows, rock and stone falls; access to them became only possible on April 23, the Ministry has recalled.
