Mukhammad Abdurakhmanov reports about delays in issuing of refugee documents in Germany
The German Office for the Protection of the Constitution has for the third time invited Mukhammad Abdurakhmanov for a security questioning required to obtain refugee documents. The man points out that such security questionings in Germany are primarily directed at people from Chechnya and that he has not been able to obtain his documents for a year and a half already.
Mukhammad Abdurakhmanov has claimed that he has not been able to obtain his documents, including a residence permit and a refugee passport, for a year and a half. The German Ministry of Refugees assigned him refugee status back in late 2023, but he has not been able to obtain documents.
According to the Mukhammad Abdurakhmanov’s report, in addition to contacting the migration office, which should issue the appropriate refugee documents – a residence permit and a refugee passport – based on the decision of the ministry, in Bavaria, where he lives, there is an additional requirement of the law on a security questioning, which is to be conducted by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution or the migration office. “Here, a refugee is to undergo a so-called security questioning. But not everyone passes it,” Mukhammad Abdurakhmanov explained on his YouTube channel.
The man notes that the requirement to pass a security questioning is explained by his Russian citizenship. However, according to his information, refugees are being subjected to security questioning selectively. “Only natives of Chechnya must prove that they are not a threat to Germany, since we are basically considered the people who can pose some kind of threat. Of course, I was no exception and was to undergo the mentioned procedure. I also came to their office, filled out the questionnaire, answered the questions, and left. But a few months later I was called in for an additional questioning,” Mukhammad Abdurakhmanov stated. The man noted that on his second visit he saw his completed refugee documents, but they were not given to him, as officials explained that a check was underway.
“But after five or six months, in February 2025, they decided to invite me to their office for the third time. After consulting with my lawyer, we sent a request to the refugee department asking for clarification on the suspicions they had against me. <...> We received a very formal answer stating that they wanted to talk to me and they had the right to do so,” Mukhammad Abdurakhmanov explained.
The native of Chechnya has said that after consulting with his lawyer, he decided not to go to the third questioning, since it looked like “playing with the law.” At the same time, Mukhammad Abdurakhmanov expressed his concerns that he would not be provided with refugee documents. “If I don’t get them, then what will they give me? Will they invent some new document that will be issued to me personally, or will my situation be so bad that they will try to deprive me of my refugee status and everything and deport me to Russia?" Mukhammad Abdurakhmanov asked.
