Tofig Yagublu stops his hunger strike
At the request of his relatives, on the 40th day of his hunger strike, Tofig Yagublu, an Azerbaijani oppositional politician, has agreed to end his action, which he held in protest against his arrest and 9-year sentence awarded under a fraud case.
Tofig Yagublu, a jailed member of the “Musavat” Party and the National Council, who had been on his hunger strike for 40 days in protest against his arrest, has decided to stop his protest, the “Meydan” TV has reported today, citing Tofig’s daughter.
Nigyar Khazi, the daughter, wrote on the Facebook* that she visited her father in custody and saw him dying. "I saw him in such a state that my blood ran cold. I begged him to stop his hunger strike. I simply asked him to do it for me, my mother, my brother and our relatives," her words are quoted in the post of the TV.
According to her story, her father agreed to resume eating, and his doctor, Adil Geibulla, is with him.
