Resident of Dagestan suspected of calling for terror acts

FSB agents have found calls to kill law enforcers and commit terror acts in churches that were placed in Telegram posts by residents of Dagestan.

The reason for initiating a criminal case against a resident of Dagestan was in his posts placed in the messenger. The case is being handled by the Dagestani Branch of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).

On June 20, the “TASS-Kavkaz” outlet reported citing law enforcers that the man distributed posts in Telegram calling for terror acts.

The posts with calls for terrorism were available to an unlimited number of users of the messenger. The calls, among other things, contained incitement to kill law enforcers and destroy religious buildings, the “Dagestanskaya Pravda” newspaper has reported with reference to the local FSB.

The case was opened under Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for up to five years of freedom deprivation. The law enforcers' report fails to specify whether the suspect has been detained; and there is no information on the choice of the freedom preventive measure for him.

A year ago, on June 23, 2024, on the Trinity Day, which is one of the main Christian holidays, militants attacked synagogues and Orthodox churches in Derbent and Makhachkala.
