Hirair Hovnanian welcomes Senators' efforts to extend trade benefits to Armenia
The US Senators Mitch McConnel and Paul Sarbanes urged their colleagues to support their efforts to extend trade benefits to Armenia.
The Board of Trustees Chairman of the Armenian Assembly of America (AAA) Hirair Hovnanian said Senators' initiative was invaluable for Armenia in its economic development. "It will help to establish further relationship between the US and Armenia on the basis of mutually beneficial trade not help, and this is a top-priority task for the AAA", noticed Hovnanian.
More than 100 members of the US House of Representatives signed a bill raising Armenia's status as the US trade partner. Known as H.R. 528, the bill was introduced by Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Co-Chairmen Joe Knollenberg and Frank Pallone. The bill is currently awaiting action by the corresponding House Subcommittee.
