Representatives of the leadership of the unacknowledged Republic of Abkhazia and the United Nations informed that Georgian-Abkhazian talks on the issue of security guarantees will be carried on in Tbilisi on September 15. The ambassadors of the countries entering the Group of the Friends of the UN Secretary-General on Georgia - the US, Great Britain, France, Russia, and Germany - will also take part in the meeting. The first of these series of meetings was held in Sukhumi on July 15 under the Chairmanship of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Georgia, Ms. Heidi Tagliavini.
The decision to work out international security guarantees was reached as early as 2001 at the Yalta Meeting of the parties on measures for trust strengthening.
