State Corporation in charge of preparing Sochi Olympiad asks to amend the environmental legislation

According to Semyon Vainshtok, head of the "Olympstroy" State Corporation, realization of the construction programs of Olympic objects in Sochi demands to make changes in the law on specially protected natural territories and in the statement on ensuring the operation of the Sochi State Natural Reserve.

Mr Vainshtok made this statement at the sitting of the Commission of the Federation Council on the issues of preparation of Sochi Olympiad. According to his story, the current legislation on specially protected natural territories complicates the process of allocating land plots for erection of Olympic objects.

"Now, we have prepared a list of 19 legislative acts, five of them should be amended, and the remaining ones should be passed anew," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Vainshtok as saying.

The administration of the Krasnodar Territory presented its report to the sitting of the Commission, stating that the procedure of allocating land plots from the Sochi National Park is not defined in the legislative norms, which are currently in force. The authorities of the Territory suggest to vest the rights to command these land plots to "Rosimuschestvo" (federal body for managing state property) or to the administration of the Krasnodar Territory.
