Old woman kidnapped in Abkhazia

Irina Meboniya, born in 1926, a resident of Nabakevi village, Gali District of Abkhazia, was kidnapped on the night of November 26 from her own house. The information about kidnapping arrived from her neighbours only today.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the ROVD (District Interior Department) of the Gali District that they suspect that the crime against the elderly woman could be committed by Dmitri Gamisoniya, former resident of the Gali District, who ran away from Georgian prison during the August events and illegally penetrated with his two accomplices into the territory of Abkhazia. All three culprits have been announced into search by the Gali ROVD.

Irina Meboniya's children live in Tbilisi, therefore, the Gali militia does not exclude that the kidnapping was accomplished with the aim to extort ransom.
