Glukhov: I asked for political asylum... Nobody kidnapped me

Sergeant of Russian Armed Forces Alexander Glukhov, who ran away from his military unit located in the Akhalgori District and went to Georgia, wants to receive Georgian citizenship and return to Russia.

"I've asked for political asylum. Then, I want to return to Russia. Nobody kidnapped me. Yesterday I communicated with my mother and invited her to Georgia, told her to come," said Alexander Glukhov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Glukhov's mother had doubted that her son had quitted his military unit by his own will. She has added that her son did not contact her yet.

The sergeant who ran away from Russia told in his interview to the "Gazeta.Ru" that before getting to Georgia he hid for 10 days at local residents, and then occasionally found himself in Tbilisi.

Alexander Glukhov said that he was forced to leave his unit because of bad relations with the battalion commander Major Fyodorov, whose name he could not remember (however, he specified that he was not exposed to beating, - note of the "Caucasian Knot" editorial board).

"Besides, there were poor conditions of service in the unit… There was no bath already for a month. There were problems with nutrition. Meals were insufficient," said Alexander Glukhov and added that he had been in the Akhalgori District since December 1, and all the time there were problems with nutrition.

We remind you that Alexander Glukhov, 21, who was at his service in Akhalgori, on January 26 abandoned his unit and addressed for help to the Georgian police. Tbilisi is not going to give him out to Russia. The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation asserts that Georgia prevents Glukhov from returning home.
