Two girls who disappeared in Grozny are searched for in Chechnya

The employees of the Chechen MIA are searching two girls who disappeared three days back in Grozny under unclear circumstances.

"On October 20, two girls, aged 18 and 19, disappeared under unclear circumstances were in the city of Grozny. One of them was a resident of Grozny, and the other, a native of the Achhoi-Martan District, was a student of the Grozny Medical College," a source in the law enforcement bodies of Chechnya has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"According to the data at our disposal, for the last time the girls were noticed in the area of the central marketplace of Grozny. So far, the attempts to establish the whereabouts and further fate of the missing girls have given no result," the source added.

We note here that a considerable portion of disappearances in Chechnya are still kidnappings, although such cases are less and less frequent. This is confirmed by the report disseminated by the Human Rights Centre "Memorial" on September 28. Thus, according to human rights activists, while during May-August this year nine kidnappings were registered in the Chechen Republic, during the same period of last year 53 persons were kidnapped.
