Chechen Committee of National Salvation complains of pressure by the authorities of Ingushetia

Representatives of the Chechen Committee of National Salvation (ChCNS) state that human rights activists are under "violent pressure" exerted by the authorities of Ingushetia. A respective statement has appeared today in the website of the ChCNS.

"On December 11, 2007, the ChCNS received a warning about violation of the legislation from the Department of the Federal Registration Service for the Republic of Ingushetia (FRS for RI)," runs the statement. The warning reports "about the documents allegedly non-presented by the Republic's Public Movement (RPM) ChCNS to the Department, including the documents on spending monetary resources and use of other property."

"At the same time, the RPM ChCNS has long ago presented the complete list of necessary documents to the Department of the Federal Registration Service for the Republic Ingushetia," representatives of the ChCNS inform.

"We are a human rights organization, and we have to properly defend ourselves for the sake of defending others. Certainly, we shall appeal against the warning of the FRS for RI in the judicial order," runs the message. "We state that this warning is illegitimate and has no legal grounds. We are ready to defend the right of our organization to protect the people who have fallen victims of lawlessness and arbitrariness before the whole world."
