In Dagestan, managers of "Arsi-2" demand to open case against militiamen

On April 22, 2008, a complaint was lodged to the Public Prosecutor of the city of Kaspisk filed by Rajab Rajabov, Deputy of the National Assembly of Dagestan and Director General of the Closed Joint-Stock Company "Arsi-2", with a demand to cancel the decision made by Arsen Magaramov, inspector of the Caspian investigatory department at the Russian Prosecutor's Office for Dagestan, who refused to initiate a criminal case. The case was closed for absence of crime attributes.

Mr Rajabov has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the whole story started on December 10, 2007, when a group of federal militiamen accompanied by 30 armed Volgograd OMON (Special Militia) fighters blocked all the rooms in the head office of "Arsi-2" Company.

According to his story, for 13 hours militiamen forbade anyone to leave the rooms or make telephone calls. Among the blocked persons, there was a mother of a small child and a chronically sick woman who needed to take her medication.

The survey of the office ended with a personal search of all the employees, including women. Cabinets and tables in all the office rooms were also searched.

Late at night the militiamen went away taking with them all the documents on financial and economic activities, computer system units and the company's server, which had subsequently put the company to the brink of bankruptcy.
