Editorial Board of "Chernovik" newspaper to protest against Dagestan Procurator's warning

In the near future, the editor-in-chief of the weekly named "Chernovik" (Blueprint) is going to protest against the decision of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan, by which the edition was warned on inadmissibility to breach the Federal Law "On Counteracting Extremist Activities".

Today, Nadira Isaeva, editor-in-chief of the independent Dagestan weekly "Chernovik", received by mail a letter from Igor Tkachov, Public Prosecutor of Dagestan, with a warning "about inadmissibility of breaching the law", dated July 7.

The warning letter mentions the analytical material entitled "Terrorists Number One", published in "Chernovik" of July 4. The Prosecutor's Office asserts that "the article contains extremist demands, which publicly justify terrorism".

Mr Tkachov has stated that the article "Terrorists Number One" is directed "towards formation in the readers of the opinion about the need of changing the constitutional order and heroize the persons who commit crimes."

Eduard Urazaev, Minister for National Policy, Information and External Relations of Dagestan, has noted that the article really contains a number of disputable statements, at the same time, he found it necessary to emphasize that the Federal Law "On Counteracting Extremist Activities" also has no less disputable points, since any critics of the authorities can get under the Law.
